The Presidential Precinct is a partnership between the University of Virginia, Morven, Monticello, the College of William and Mary, James Monroe’s Ash Lawn-Highland, and James Madison’s Montpelier.
Comprising two of the United States’ top public universities, a World Heritage Site and two internationally renowned scholarly institutions, the Presidential Precinct is a historic location steeped in the legacy of three of America’s founders, as well as a virtual environment for emerging democratic leaders and a place to convene for face-to-face gatherings – fostering inspiration and engagement in a singular destination for dialogue, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.
The Precinct encompasses scholarly centers including U.Va.’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, the Sorenson Institute, The UVA Center for Politics and The Miller Center, William & Mary’s Reves Center for International Studies, the Omohundro Institute for Early American History and Culture and the Program in Comparative Legal Studies and Post-Conflict Peacebuilding, Monticello’s Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies, and Montpelier’s Center for the Constitution. The Precinct provides access to hundreds of scholars, dozens of libraries as well as digital scholarship resources, state-of-the-art meeting spaces and 10,000 acres of incomparable beauty located in close proximity to Washington, D.C.
